BIG TECH IS SPENDING $700 BILLION ON AI THIS YEAR — AND $1 TRILLION BY 2027
Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon are on track to collectively spend $700 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026, with projections now showing that number could crack $1 trillion by next year — more than the GDP of Switzerland being poured into data centers, chips, and power plants every 12 months. The cash drain is raising red flags even as the stock market cheers. At some point, the AI really does have to start paying rent.
