OCULUS FOUNDERS LAUNCH AI APP THAT SOUNDS LIKE A PERSON AND THINKS WHILE IT TALKS — 39 COUNTRIES, FREE, STARTING NOW The AI startup Sesame, founded by the same people who built Oculus VR before selling it to Facebook, just released its iOS app to the public across 39 countries. The app offers four distinct AI agents named Maya, Miles, Simone, and Charlie, each with their own voice, personality, and memory. What separates Sesame from ChatGPT and other chatbots is how it handles the tension between speed and accuracy. The agents run parallel searches in real time while speaking, weaving in new information mid-sentence the way a person would when they remember another relevant fact. During its beta period, more than one million people tried the technology within weeks of it going live, according to lead investor Sequoia, which joined a $250 million Series B round. Sesame is not building another chatbot. It is building what it describes as personal agents, and the iOS app is only the beginning. The company plans to launch AI-powered smart glasses in 2027, and the agents will eventually take action on your behalf, not just talk with you. The full conversational experience is free for now. An Android preview is also in the works. The Oculus founders are betting that voice-first, personality-driven AI is the next major interface shift. This app is the opening move.
