AMBANI PUTS AI ON EVERY PHONE CALL IN INDIA AND 500 MILLION PEOPLE ARE ABOUT TO FEEL IT

AMBANI PUTS AI ON EVERY PHONE CALL IN INDIA AND 500 MILLION PEOPLE ARE ABOUT TO FEEL IT At Reliance Industries’ annual shareholder meeting on Thursday, Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash unveiled Jio Call Agent, an AI assistant built directly into Jio’s telecom infrastructure that can join any phone call on demand and act on what it hears. Users activate it by saying “Hey Jio.” From that point the AI transcribes the conversation in real time, summarizes it, and begins executing tasks without the user ever touching their phone. Book a cab. Order food. Make a reservation. The assistant handles it mid-call. Jio has over 500 million subscribers, a number that dwarfs the entire population of the United States. When Jio launched cheap mobile data in 2016 it reshaped how over a billion Indians accessed the internet. What Reliance is describing now is a second transformation of the same scale, this time pushing AI into the most fundamental communication act of daily life. The broader platform push was equally significant. Reliance announced AI-powered upgrades to its MyJio app, massive new domestic data center investments, and a satellite internet expansion. The company is building the infrastructure stack to make AI ubiquitous across India from network layer to application layer. Ambani’s stated goal is to make AI as affordable and accessible as Jio made mobile internet a decade ago.
