ANTHROPIC CROSSES $30 BILLION IN ANNUAL REVENUE AND LEAVES OPENAI BEHIND

ANTHROPIC CROSSES $30 BILLION IN ANNUAL REVENUE AND LEAVES OPENAI BEHIND Fifteen months ago Anthropic’s annual run rate was $1 billion. In April 2026 it crossed $30 billion and passed OpenAI. This is not a projection or a future target. It happened. Anthropic’s revenue hit $30 billion annualized in April, while OpenAI was reporting approximately $24 to $25 billion for the same period. OpenAI disputed the comparison, arguing that differences in accounting methodology inflated Anthropic’s figure by around $8 billion. Even accounting for that dispute, the trajectory is not in question. The growth came almost entirely from enterprise customers. Over 1,000 businesses are now spending more than $1 million per year on Claude, twice the number that existed when Anthropic closed its Series G round in February at a $380 billion valuation. Roughly 80 percent of Anthropic’s revenue comes from enterprise clients, compared to OpenAI’s more consumer-heavy mix that includes 900 million weekly ChatGPT users but also the cost infrastructure to support them. Claude Code alone generates an estimated $2.5 billion in annualized revenue. Claude’s 1 million token context window has made it the default tool in legal, financial, and engineering workflows that need to process large documents in a single session. OpenAI still commands the largest consumer AI platform on Earth. But in enterprise, Anthropic has moved to the front.
