APPLE UNLEASHES ITS REBUILT SIRI ON THE WORLD — iOS 27 PUBLIC BETA DELIVERS THE AI ASSISTANT THE COMPANY HAS PROMISED SINCE CHATGPT MADE THE OLD ONE LOOK OBSOLETE

APPLE UNLEASHES ITS REBUILT SIRI ON THE WORLD — iOS 27 PUBLIC BETA DELIVERS THE AI ASSISTANT THE COMPANY HAS PROMISED SINCE CHATGPT MADE THE OLD ONE LOOK OBSOLETE Apple opened the iOS 27 public beta Monday, and for the first time anyone with an iPhone can use the company’s rebuilt Siri, a genuinely conversational AI assistant powered by Apple Intelligence that bears almost no resemblance to the word-recognition stumbler it replaced. Enrollment is free and requires no developer account. The new Siri holds continuous conversations, searches across your personal information, reads and understands what is on your screen, takes actions inside third-party apps, and answers broader questions while keeping your data private through on-device processing and iCloud sync. Responses emerge from the Dynamic Island at the top of the screen. Pulling down opens a full conversation view. Apple also shipped a standalone Siri app that preserves your full history. Beyond Siri, iOS 27 brings speed gains across the board. Apps launch 30 percent faster. Photos appear in the library 70 percent faster after shooting. AirDrop transfers run 80 percent faster. The interface has been refined throughout with what Apple is calling Liquid Glass updates. Apple spent three years watching OpenAI and Google redefine what a software assistant could do while Siri sat largely frozen. The gap became a punchline. The iOS 27 public beta is the beginning of Apple’s answer to that gap. Whether it closes fast enough to matter commercially is the question investors and developers will start answering the moment they get it on their phones.
