ASANA BUYS AI AGENT BUILDER STACK AI AND BETS THE ENTIRE COMPANY ON MACHINES RUNNING YOUR WORKDAY

 ·
ASANA BUYS AI AGENT BUILDER STACK AI AND BETS THE ENTIRE COMPANY ON MACHINES RUNNING YOUR WORKDAY Asana just acquired Stack AI, a no-code agent builder that lets businesses automate complex workflows without writing software, in a move the company framed as the beginning of a new era for workplace automation. The financial terms were not disclosed, though Stack AI had raised just under $20 million total, including a $16 million Series A. Stack AI co-founders Tony Rosinol and Bernard Aceituno, who were part of Y Combinator Winter 2023 cohort, are joining Asana as part of the deal. Asana has been struggling in public markets since ChatGPT arrived, losing more than half its market cap as investors wondered whether AI would hollow out the work management category entirely. New CEO Dan Rogers is betting the opposite — that Asana can become the operating system for human-agent teams, where workers spend their days reviewing and directing what machines produce rather than doing the work themselves. Stack AI integrates directly with Salesforce, Slack, Google Workspace, and dozens of other enterprise systems, giving Asana the connective tissue it needs to deploy agents inside actual corporate workflows. The announcement was timed to coincide with Asana’s earnings call. Whether investors see this as a lifeline or a last roll of the dice will become clear in coming weeks as the company reports results.
