META CANNOT SHIP: MUSE SPARK API SITS IN LIMBO WITH NO RELEASE DATE AS DEVELOPERS LOSE PATIENCE

META CANNOT SHIP: MUSE SPARK API SITS IN LIMBO WITH NO RELEASE DATE AS DEVELOPERS LOSE PATIENCE Meta launched Muse Spark to considerable fanfare in April and told developers the application programming interface would follow soon after. It did not. The first delay landed in May, blamed on bugs and infrastructure shortfalls. The timeline slipped to June. As of this week, Meta has given no scheduled launch date. The Wall Street Journal reported June 3 that the company had quietly shelved any firm commitment. Without the API, outside developers cannot integrate Muse Spark into their own applications, cannot call it at scale, and cannot ship anything that depends on it. The delay gap has now stretched close to two months from the original model launch. Meta said Wednesday that it is testing the interface with a select group of early partners and expects a broader release later this month. That language is familiar. The company has issued near-identical statements before each prior delay. The timing hurts. OpenAI has Codex on Amazon Bedrock. Anthropic shipped Claude Opus 4.8. Microsoft has a full lineup of in-house models in production. Every week Meta sits on an unshipped API is a week the developer community builds habits and integrations somewhere else. In the AI race, second place compounds. Third place disappears. Keywords: Meta Muse Spark, Muse Spark API delay, Meta AI developer tools, Meta AI release
