OPENAI BUILDS AN AI THAT WORKS FOR HOURS WHILE YOU ARE GONE AND SENDS YOU THE FINISHED PRODUCT

 ·
OPENAI BUILDS AN AI THAT WORKS FOR HOURS WHILE YOU ARE GONE AND SENDS YOU THE FINISHED PRODUCT OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work on July 9 and it is a different product from anything the company has released before. This is not a chatbot. It does not answer questions. You give it an outcome, it figures out the steps, connects to your apps and data, works through the problem autonomously for hours if it has to, and delivers something finished. A spreadsheet. A presentation. A report. Code that actually runs. ChatGPT Work ships with Codex built in and runs on GPT-5.6. The interface puts Chat, Work, and Codex together in one application across desktop and mobile. The Codex app that existed as a standalone product is being folded into this new experience. The separate app goes away. Everything is now one place. Access rolls out first to Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users. Enterprise administrators get spending controls inside the Admin Console so they can set limits at the workspace, group, or individual level before anyone runs up a bill on a rogue automation. OpenAI is positioning Work as its answer to the enterprise automation market, going after the jobs currently done by consultants, analysts, and operations staff who spend their days translating requests into deliverables. The pitch is direct: describe what you need, and the AI handles everything between the request and the result. The bigger picture is that every major AI lab now has an agentic product. The race is no longer about which model scores best on benchmarks. It is about which AI can actually get something done and hand it back to you ready to use.
