OPENAI ROLLS OUT GPT-5.6 SOL, TERRA AND LUNA — ONLY 20 ORGANIZATIONS GET ACCESS FOR NOW

OPENAI ROLLS OUT GPT-5.6 SOL, TERRA AND LUNA — ONLY 20 ORGANIZATIONS GET ACCESS FOR NOW OpenAI unveiled three new models last week and almost nobody can use them yet. GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna were introduced as the most capable models the company has ever built. Sol is the flagship, designed for complex coding and advanced research tasks. Terra handles high-volume business operations. Luna is the fast and affordable option for routine work. Pricing is competitive, with Sol at per million input tokens and 0 per million output. Luna runs at input and output. The catch is significant. At the request of the US government, OpenAI is rolling these models out carefully, partner by partner, before any general release. Only around 20 organizations currently have access. Everyone else is on a waitlist. This staggered approach follows the executive order President Trump signed June 2, which established a framework for government review of frontier AI models before wide public deployment. OpenAI has placed all three GPT-5.6 models at its highest internal risk classification. That designation may trigger compliance obligations for organizations in defense, healthcare, and finance. General availability is expected within weeks pending clearance. Keywords: OpenAI GPT-5.6, Sol Terra Luna models, AI government access, frontier AI regulation, OpenAI release 2026
